Military Dogs.

Picture
Military  Dogs have been a part of military life for as long as there have been armies. Many famous commanders have had mascot dogs and the common soldier has had dog companions as part of camp life. A dog is man's best friend even when the man is a soldier.

Military Working Dogs
Organized use of dogs for military purposes began before World War I when dogs were used as messengers, sentry and patrol as well as for other tasks. During World War II the U.S. military put dogs to work in both the Pacific and Europe. Working dogs were used heavily in the Vietnam War and continue with important dirties today, with emphasis on sentry/guard duty and anti-terrorist explosives detection.
