the foundation of German shepherds
in the turn of the century, on April 3rd 1899 to be exact two gentlemen attended one of the earliest of all breeds ever held in Germany at karlsruhe and came away not only with a dog but also with an idea witch was a club for the breed.
these men where Rittmeister max Von Herr Artur Meyer. they had come to the show to see what shepherds might be present as they had been strongly drawn to this breed of dog.
due to some outstanding herding performance they had seen at Thuringia Saxony and Wurttemberg.they was not disappointed at this show because almost straightaway
their focus turned to this wolf-like yellow dog never dreaming at the time that this would
go down in history as the foundation of the German shepherd dog as the breed would become
nothing short of spectacular with its obedient nature and intelligence towards every day tasks.
anyway they made some enquirers to the handler and the handler explained that it was not a show dog but a true working shepherd used for herding sheep.
the two gentlemen mentioned above purchased this dog whom we understand had had 7 previous owners in his excitement and dreams for the future on that very same day the same
two gentlemen started to form the Verein Fur Deutsche Schaferhunde S.V. naming Von Stephanitz the organizations first president.
this is now commonly known as Schutzhund SCH / SCH1 / SCH2 / SCH3:
